How to complete GPSR data on eMAG — a step-by-step guide

What GPSR data eMAG requires for each offer, where you enter it, and how to apply it across thousands of products without doing it by hand.

Since 13 December 2024, EU Regulation 2023/988 (GPSR) requires every product sold online to display complete safety information. eMAG has started deactivating offers that lack this data. Here's exactly what to fill in and how.

What GPSR data eMAG requires for each offer

Under GPSR Art. 19, every online offer must contain four categories of information:

  • Manufacturer details — name or registered trademark, postal address and an electronic (email/website) address.
  • EU responsible person — if the manufacturer is outside the EU, an economic operator established in the EU (name, address, email) accountable for the product's compliance.
  • Product identification — type, model/SKU, batch or serial number (traceability) and an image.
  • Safety warnings and instructions — in the local language, visible directly in the offer.

Step 1: collect data by manufacturer, not by product

The mistake that costs months of work is filling product by product. The right way: group products by brand / manufacturer. Most stores have a few dozen brands but thousands of products. For each brand you only need, once: the manufacturer details and (if applicable) the EU responsible person.

Step 2: designate the EU responsible person where missing

For products whose manufacturer is outside the EU, you need an EU economic operator — the importer, an authorised representative, or a fulfilment provider that accepts the role. Without it, the product cannot legally be placed on the market. We cover the EU responsible person here.

Step 3: fill it in on eMAG

On eMAG Marketplace, GPSR data is entered at offer level: manufacturer and responsible-person info, plus safety information. You can enter it manually in the seller interface or, far faster, in bulk via the eMAG Marketplace API.

Step 4: don't forget your own store

GPSR doesn't only apply on eMAG — your own online store must show the same information on product pages. Ideally you have a single GPSR data source feeding both the site and eMAG automatically.

How to avoid manual work across thousands of offers

At 5,000 or 30,000 offers, manual completion is unrealistic. The solution is a mapping rule: define the data once per brand/category, and a system applies it automatically to every product that has it and pushes it to eMAG via API. Products missing data show up in a report so you can fill them in a targeted way.

That's exactly what we do at SISSOFT. See how we automate GPSR compliance or request a free audit.
