The context
electronic-mag.ro is our own B2B electronics store: a catalog of 351,000+ products and customers who order in volume. It started on PrestaShop and, at this size, the platform began to give way: filtering had become slow, the admin sluggish, and infrastructure costs kept climbing.
The challenge
What the migration had to solve, in the order it was felt in the store:
- A massive catalog: 351,000+ products, with filtering and search that have to respond instantly.
- A B2B experience: customers who order often and in large quantities, with no friction in the cart or at checkout.
- Real speed on mobile and desktop, with no SEO compromises.
- The stated goal of the migration: zero loss of organic traffic and Google rankings.
The solution
We moved the store to a headless stack, where the store engine and the storefront are separate applications:
- A Sylius / Symfony backend, API-first: a mature open-source e-commerce core, modeled on the store’s business processes.
- A Next.js frontend, with static/ISR rendering, optimized images and fonts and minimal JavaScript.
- Search and filtering on Meilisearch, indexed separately from the store database.
- Dedicated Hetzner infrastructure, with caching and indexing tuned for a catalog of this size.
The migration approach
The same recipe we propose to any store moving off an old platform:
- A 1:1 map of the old URLs, with 301 redirects, so indexed pages keep their addresses.
- Full migration of products, categories, customers and orders, with integrity checks.
- A controlled cutover, with real-time monitoring and a zero-downtime goal.
The result, measured
The numbers below are not targets and do not come from lab tests. They are field data from the Chrome UX Report: how the site loads for real users, on mobile, 75th percentile over the last 28 days, across the whole site. Anyone can reproduce them on PageSpeed Insights (link on the right).
- LCP (loading): 1.16 s — Google’s “good” threshold is 2.5 s.
- INP (interaction response): 80 ms — the threshold is 200 ms.
- CLS (visual stability): 0.07 — the threshold is 0.1.
- TTFB (server response): 547 ms — the threshold is 800 ms.
CrUX verdict for the whole site: FAST, measured on 26 September 2026. In short: a catalog of 351,000+ products that loads in 1.16 s on mobile, for real users.
